Paul Newman dies at 83

Paul Newman dies at age 83, after battling cancer, in his home in Connecticut.  Joanne Woodward, his wife of over 50 years, was at his side. Their long marriage was unique in Hollywoodland.  “I have steak at home, why go out for hamburger?” Newman told Playboy magazine when asked if he was tempted to stray.

Paul Newman, known for his Hollywood celebrity ‘legend’ status was much more than that.  Mr. Newman was a devoted husband and father of six children, race car driver, activist, and a humanitarian with over 100 million dollars going to charity from his Newman’s Own products.

He was nominated for Academy Award’s “Oscar” 10 times, winning one Oscar and two honorary ones, and had major roles in more than 50 motion pictures, including “Exodus,” “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid,” “The Verdict,” “The Sting” and “Absence of Malice.”

Mr. Newman left this world a better place and will surely be missed.
